Background Chris just wants to fit back into all his pants. Back in his early - chubby – teen years he was wearing a size 40 – now he says he refuses to go any higher than a size 38. Always a big kid, Chris got leaner after he discovered sports. His passion for tennis and boxing helped him get down to 170 pounds. But then other interests like stand-up comedy took over and he started to pile on the pounds again. Why Taking it Off At least part of Chris’s motivation for losing weight is to be more attractive to the opposite sex. He hasn’t been dating lately but says he’s “always looking”. He knows that women like the funny guys who make them laugh but claims the gals don’t want to sleep with big guys no matter how funny they are! Chris is also feeling the pinch of turning 30 and not being close to any of his goals in his personal or professional life. Getting a new body seems like a good place to start… Challenges Chris doesn’t buy groceries, doesn’t cook and admits to vast ignorance about nutrition. Most of the time it’s just easier to go to the food court in a mall. Chris, who admits to suffering from depression, also deals with something like the challenges of shift work. He works long hours at three different jobs, his day rarely starting before noon. He’s often out till early morning as he haunts the comedy clubs looking for inspiration. His bizarre schedule doesn’t easily accommodate work-outs or sensible eating. Quote from Chris: “I think attitude could prevent me from losing weight, as well as time constraints. I think you have to keep a really strong attitude if you want to lose weight and just never give up. That’s the hard part. You get into it for a little while and then you go “Ah, forget it. Everything there is really heavy. I don’t need this.” |
